Hi, I'm Rachel!
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with compassion, support, and understanding. My main specialties and areas of interest include trauma, chronic illness, grief, and major life transitions. I typically work with older adolescents (14+) and adults who may feel overwhelmed, stuck, uncertain, or unsure where to begin in their therapy journey. Even if you are hesitant about starting therapy, we can work together to identify areas of growth, healing, and relief.
My Story
I approach counseling with an integrative, trauma-informed mindset and strive to create a safe, supportive space where you feel accepted and understood. I believe healing happens best when we look at the full picture — including how relationships, core beliefs, life experiences, and societal pressures may shape the way you move through the world. Sometimes these patterns can be difficult to recognize when you are living through them every day, and therapy can provide space to better understand yourself and your experiences.
My therapeutic approach incorporates Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Person-Centered Therapy (PCT). I also strongly value mindfulness, nervous system regulation, and body awareness techniques as part of the healing process. I believe both the mind and body play important roles in recovery, especially for individuals experiencing trauma, chronic stress, anxiety, or chronic illness. These techniques can also be particularly supportive for individuals living with dysautonomia or those wanting to better understand how their bodies respond to stress and triggers.
Like many counselors, my passion for this work is shaped not only by my professional experience, but also by my lived experience navigating the challenges that can come with chronic illness and major life changes. I understand how difficult it can be to slow down, process emotions, and care for your mental health when life feels overwhelming or fast-paced. Because of this, I am deeply committed to providing a space where you can feel supported while working through the emotions, stressors, and transitions that life brings.
My work is rooted in the belief that healing, growth, and learning healthier ways to cope are possible for everyone. While the process may not always feel easy or happen as quickly as you hope, you do not have to navigate it alone. I am here to support you each step of the way so your mind and body can begin to feel safe, grounded, and at rest.
If you are unsure whether we would be a good fit, I welcome you to schedule a free phone consultation so we can discuss your individual needs and goals for therapy.
